Mary Dall aka:Mary Doerfler Dall
I wear a lot of hats. I am a writer, illustrator, artist, workshop presenter and educator.
While I've written eight craft and activity books (see Books), two poetry books, and illustrated nine of them, I also do a lot of fine arts—primarily watercolors, but other media too and I love black and white pencil and chalk drawings. Miniatures are one of my favorite forms of expression. I especially like creating collages too. Therefore, I happily dance from medium to medium working with the one that best suits my needs for any given creative project. I have also written award winning humorous essays, short stories, nostalgia pieces and poems.
For years I accompanied my military husband around the world and learned to embrace the mantra, "Bloom where you're transplanted." I taught school in the US and Germany and worked in countless volunteer positions. I am currently working on a poetry book for children and several picture book ideas. My character Ambrose (a little ant) has been an especially rewarding project. (He has a mind of his own!) My professional memberships include: the SCBWI (W/I), Space Coast Writers’ Guild, Central Florida Watercolor Society, Florida Reading Association and the National League of American Pen Women (Arts/Letter), Cape Canaveral Branch.
When not writing, painting, or traveling, I like to design, sew and create circa 1890 Western costumes and tend my butterfly garden. (See SASS and Garden) I live in Florida with my husband, Dan.  We have three grown children.
